Sicilian Pizzette


today Sicilian Pizzette. It is very common in Sicily when you enter in a cafe', to find this delicious small Pizzette. Similar to Pizza but more soft and sweet. It is a street food very common in my country.

We use Pizzette often for children Birthday parties.

Easy to prepare and easy to eat standing up, so perfect for the buffet.

  • 500 gr / 4 cups Flour

  • 250 ml Water

  • 40 gr / 1/3 cup Sugar

  • 1.5 gr / 0.5 tsp Yeast

  • 50 gr / 1/4 cup Lard

  • 15 gr / 3 tsp Salt

  • Tomato Sauce

  • Oregano

  • Cheese

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil


  1. Place in a bowl Flour, part of the Sugar and Lard and start mixing

  2. Place in a glass part of the Water, part of the Sugar and the Yeast and mix

  3. Add the Yeast mixture to the Flour continuing mixing

  4. Add half of the water, mixing for some minutes

  5. Add the remaining Water and the Salt and mix for 10 minutes

  6. Leave it to grow for 5 hours

  7. After that, roll out the Dough and using a cooking cut prepare your Pizzette

  8. Leave it growing for another 1 hour

  9. Add on top tomato sauce, Oregano, Cheese, Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  10. Bake 410F for 15 minutes.
